Y&R’ Daniel Goddard Joins ‘GH’: Tied To Michael’s Explosion?

Fans have been speculating that Daniel Goddard is making a return to daytime television. Up until today, they all believed he would be rejoining Young and the Restless as Cane Ashby. He played Cane previously from 2007 to 2019. In 2011 he even played Cane’s twin Caleb. Now, he shocked fans by announcing he’s joining General Hospital. He will be portraying an all-new character on the soap. Will he be tied to the explosion that severely burned Michael Corinthos?

Daniel Goddard Joins GH, Shocking Young And The Restless Fans

Young and the Restless fans are shocked and disappointed to learn that fan-favorite actor Daniel Goddard is not returning as Cane Ashby. Instead, Daniel is switching gears and taking on a brand new character in General Hospital. 

TV Insider broke the news and spoke to Goddard about his new acting job. He will be playing Professor Henry Dalton who is an environmental physics instructor at Port Charles University. There has not been much revealed about his mysterious character so far. However, fans can expect to see him in his first scenes on April 15.

Plus, he has been working with Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) and Finola Hughes (Anna Devane). It appears that Dalton may be part of Josslyn’s first WSB assignment. Dalton’s past isn’t exactly peaches and cream. Something from his past has led him to be the target of an investigation.

Could that investigation have something to do with the explosion that took place at Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) penthouse? That terrible explosion left Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) severely burned and sent off to a treatment facility in Germany.

Perhaps Dalton had something to do with the bombs that were created for this crazy explosion that was meant to destroy Sonny. Even if he didn’t create the explosive devices himself, perhaps he has instructed someone who did. Could he even possibly have an entire secret organization that builds and sells these devices to terrorists?

Some fans are speculating that he is under WSB investigation for encouraging and organizing students into eco-terrorism. Either way, some are speculating that he will develop a thing for Joss. What do you think?

No doubt Goddard will bring some new twists and turns to Port Charles.

What Has Goddard Said About His Return To Daytime?

Daniel Goddard is excited about his return to daytime television. He’s especially excited and honored to be taking on this brand-new character in General Hospital. The veteran actor shared that he told Frank Valentini that he did not want to know anything about his character and he would learn as he went through his scenes.

Goddard also revealed that he originally read for the role of Jack Brennan. However, that was obviously given to Chris McKenna. A few weeks later he got the call about the role of Henry Dalton.

Goddard said,

“I know that the characters that I’ve had scenes with know something about him. I don’t want to know what it is because I don’t want to play it that I know. I’d rather have the character be sort of a clean slate to me. At Young and the Restless, I always used to read the whole script because other characters will talk about you, and you’ll get to know more about you than you know about yourself. At General Hospital, you only get your pages, and I thought, ‘Woody Allen would do that, where he doesn’t want everybody know what’s going on or what the twists and turns are.’ And I thought, ‘This is going to be cool.’ So, I’m allowing myself to go on the journey of who Dalton is from the audience’s perspective, and from my perspective of what is the growth and evolution of him. I will allow it to unfold as the bits and pieces present themselves to me.”
