‘General Hospital’ Ethan’s Shocking Twist Of Betrayal

General Hospital fans are excited to see Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean) back in Port Charles. He made his debut last Friday after being gone for several years. He’s already been a bit mysterious. Ethan was seen on a phone call letting someone know they would be at the pier every day around noon in hopes this person shows up. As of now, nobody knows who he was calling, but many predict it’s either Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell) or Delilah, not knowing she is dead. If it’s not a woman, it could go deeper into a web of lies that will ultimately reveal a shocking twist of betrayal. Why is Ethan really back in Port Charles?

General Hospital: What Are Ethan’s True Motives For Returning?

General Hospital fans are wondering what is really behind Ethan Lovett’s big return. As Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) son, he’s never really been considered a threat to anyone. He told Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) that he was there because he missed family. However, it’s quite obvious that there is more to that story. After randomly bumping into his half-sister, he made a beeline for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) house. 

He told Lulu that his stay in Port Charles is open-ended at the moment. In fact, he’s seeking a job with Sonny, but is it for the right reasons? Did news of Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) sudden WSB trip to prison really make its way back to him, or did he know because there’s something else going on behind the scenes? Nathan Dean previously noted that Ethan would be returning with more of an edge. 

In an interview with TV Insider, Nathan said, “He’s definitely changed a little bit. We know that some other mysterious people have been popping up in town. As we start to learn a little bit more about them, maybe we’ll reveal the real reason why he is back, as opposed to just, ‘Oh, I miss my friends and family.’ I’m very excited to dive into all of it.”

Is A Shocking Betrayal Coming?

Many are beginning to speculate that perhaps Ethan’s return to Port Charles wasn’t entirely his choice. It’s possible that a shocking betrayal is on the way. His father was Sonny’s best friend, and Ethan could be using that to his advantage. 

There’s speculation that Ethan might really be a WSB agent or even a fed. He could have possibly been forced into agreeing to help destroy the mob boss in order to protect someone he loves, his mother. Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) has her own skeletons and not-so-clean past. He even hinted at her possible return in the future. Even if Ethan isn’t a WSB agent, he could be working with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). Everyone else seems to be, so it wouldn’t be quite so far-fetched. Perhaps Sidwell is blackmailing Ethan just as he has so many others. 

Either way, finding out the real reason Ethan returned to Port Charles is sure to be more dramatic than returning to see family.
