Scott Clifton opened up on the red carpet about Liam Spencer’s shocking survival. He shared that he is happy Liam Spencer is alive on the Bold & Beautiful because that was not the original plan. He revealed that a year ago, Brad Bell called him into his office and shared that he loves Liam, but it was going to be the end of the road for him.

The original plan was to really have a brain tumor kill Liam. It was his “swan song,” as Clifton pointed out. He is very grateful that in the end, Bell decided to go a different route with Liam’s illness. He also pointed out that he doesn’t know why Bell decided to keep Liam alive. However, he did also mention they have the best audience in the world. So perhaps the outrage that Liam might die helped change his mind.

As fans know, Liam’s brain tumor turned out to be a big lie and a setup by the doctor wanting a big payout from Bill Spencer.

Scott Talks More About Liam’s Condition

Scott Clifton also talked more about Liam’s near demise. He was asked if he studied up on how to portray someone who is going through terminal brain cancer. He said he tried, and he was very anxious about bringing justice to the storyline. Clifton didn’t want it to come off as phony or unsympathetic to those who have gone through the illness or have a loved one who has endured it.

In the end, he got a lot of support from fans who said they felt seen. Many felt he did the role justice. He also said he is glad Liam survived and the storyline was changed. Clifton shared that entertaining everyone is the honor of his life.

Amid his brain tumor storyline, many were hoping that he was going to move over to General Hospital, where he had previously played a role. Unfortunately, it turned out to be just rumors, and his home for now appears to be on Bold & Beautiful.
