‘Counting On’ Jill Duggar Mourns Heartbreaking Loss

Counting On alum Jill Duggar mourns one of the most heartbreaking days of her life. She is looking back on memories that will forever live in her heart. Many families have endured heartbreaking losses they will never quite heal from. ‘Counting On‘: Jill Duggar Pays Tribute To True Middle Child

Jill Duggar Dillard went to Instagram to share memories of a heartbreaking loss she and her family went through, and continue to mourn. She has suffered two miscarriages in her 11 years of marriage to Derick Dillard. Jill experienced her first miscarriage in October 2021, which marks 4 years on October 3. Her tragic loss was a baby they named River Bliss, and Jill considers the child her “true middle child.”

Jill recently uploaded photos featuring all the memories River Bliss left to her and her family. According to the former Counting On star, her family includes more than just 3 boys running along with her and Derick. She then admits that she often talks about Isla Marie, whom she lost in her second trimester in 2024. But she suffered a miscarriage before Isla Marie, and she couldn’t believe that it’s been four years already. “On that Fall day, October 3rd, 2021, we had only known I was pregnant for about a week & a half, but we were already so elated!” she recalls.

However, their happy moments turned into a nightmare when she began to experience spotting. Jill later found out that she had lost her baby. She added, “We didn’t know the gender yet, but we soon settled on a name that seemed perfect for our heavenly baby…River Bliss Dillard.” She explains that River means “Tranquil,” while Bliss means “Perfect Happiness.” Jill shared Bible verses talking about how she will eventually meet her child in heaven. Jill also took the opportunity to spread awareness about miscarriage.

She believes that everyone deals with loss differently, but it should be a common thing to support everyone. She continued, “That’s ok. Let’s support each other and families experiencing this tragedy as they process their loss and remember their heavenly babies that they never got to raise.” Many fans took to Jill’s comments section to pay tribute to her two unborn children.

Jill’s Second Miscarriage

Aside from River Bliss, Jill has been more vocal about her second miscarriage. The Counting On alum documented her healing journey when she lost Isla Marie, and most of her family has been on her side despite her years of estrangement. Jill even shared photos of Jim Bob and Michelle attending Isla Marie’s funeral. She often visits Isla’s grave with her husband and sons.

In August, she recalled her heartbreaking story, stating that they never knew what caused her miscarriage. She wrote, “What we do know is that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss. This means there are so many hurting families, and so many families who need the kind of love and support we had while walking through loss.”
