How Long Will Ryan Paevey Be Back On ‘General Hospital’?

Fans were ecstatic to learn that Ryan Paevey is returning to General Hospital after exiting the daytime drama seven years ago. He recently had the rumor mill churning when he revealed he had some irons in the fire and announcements would be coming soon. Ryan had taken a year off from acting altogether after starring in several Hallmark films over the years. Now that he’s officially returning to GH, fans are eager to know how he will be making his comeback and how long he plans on sticking around. Keep reading to find out everything we know right now.

Ryan Paevey Returns To General Hospital 

General Hospital fans are anxious to learn more about Ryan Paevey’s return to the show. His character, Nathan West, was shot and killed by his father, Cesar Faison. Everyone saw him die and even saw the funeral, complete with an open casket. Now that Paevey is returning, fans want to know who he will be returning as.

The soap is getting intense as Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) has suffered a heart attack and seemingly been poisoned by tainted face cream. She’s in a coma, and with Storms taking an extended amount of time off, she will likely remain that way for quite some time. Of course, Maxie was Nathan’s love interest on the show.

Paevey began filming for the soap last week. It’s still unclear if he is returning as Nathan or someone entirely new. There are lots of theories circulating on the internet about what the “meaty” storyline could be. When Ryan announced his return, he said it all began with a text from Executive Producer Frank Valentini. They discussed various storylines as well as the time commitment from Paevey that each would take.

Paevey said to Deadline, “We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought if we’re going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline.”

So, how long will he be back on the soap for? He didn’t disclose that information, but by saying they should really do it, it almost sounds like he will be sticking around for a bit.

Will He Return As Nathan?

Other than how long fans will see one of their favorites back on screen, everyone wants to know which character he will be portraying. Since his sister Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) is not really dead, it’s possible that somehow Nathan was saved as well. They share the same parents, and head writers have said, “The excitement won’t end with her. The Faison/Obrecht clan is just getting started.”

Some even think that somehow Britt’s half-brother, Peter August, could be running the show and had surgery to look like Nathan. This would allow Paevey to act in a role that is entirely new to him. He would be on the evil side of things if he were really Peter.

Others think that Nathan will appear to Maxi while she’s in her coma and encourage her to go back to their kids, that they need her. Still more have even mentioned that perhaps Nathan had a twin nobody knew existed, and he’s just as evil as Faison.

Paevey’s character and the length of time he remains on the show is a mystery. But it is known that his first air date will be in September.
