‘General Hospital’ Writers Confirm Monica’s Death Coming, Willow Blamed?

General Hospital writers have confirmed that they are finally going to address Leslie Charleson passing away in January of this year. Monica Quartermaine is about to face the same fate, and while it’s still unknown how it will happen, there is a huge possibility it has to do with the chaos happening now. What have writers said about paying tribute to Leslie and Monica?

General Hospital fans are about to see an era come to an end on the hit daytime drama. Monica Quartermaine is about to pass away on the show. Fans have been waiting for the show to honor Leslie Charleson and what she brought to GH. Not only will the show honor her, but they will continue her legacy by launching a new storyline, which they feel is fitting.

Writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten told TV Insider more about their plans. They said,

“When bidding farewell to her and to Monica, there could be no half-measures.Honoring Leslie’s contribution to General Hospital and Monica’s significance to Port Charles meant doing more than simply throwing a funeral and looking back at the past. We wanted Monica’s passing to kick off a new story; to create new connections on the canvas; to test her loved ones; and to grow their relationships. This way, Monica may be gone — but her legacy will be felt long into the future.”

Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) made it a point of telling the rest of the family that they had to keep Monica from finding out that Drew had been shot. So, this could be how she goes down. Monica could find out about Drew and have a heart attack. Will Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) be blamed for her death?

Will Willow Be Blamed?

How could Willow be blamed for Monica’s death if she does, in fact, have a heart attack after finding out about Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) being shot? If fan suspicions are correct and Willow is the one who shot Drew, then the blame for the stress caused to Monica will be pinned on her as well.

Many are beginning to think that Willow is following in her sister Nelle’s footsteps. It’s possible that Willow has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). It’s also known as multiple personality disorder. Willow may have snapped and shot Drew. She just doesn’t remember doing it since her other personality is to blame.

This could lead to the entrance of Erika Slezak (ex-Viki, One Life to Live). Nobody knows exactly who her character will be, but it looks like she might be related to Monica. She may also be a psychiatrist. Writers have confirmed she will have a tie to the Quartermaines. Is she Monica’s sister or related to the family in another way?
