The popular actor who portrays Jason Morgan on the hit daytime drama has been hit once again by fake news. The first incident involved a fan who was scammed by someone claiming to be Burton. They lost thousands of dollars and prompted Steve to speak out and warn everyone to be careful who they associate with and choose to believe on social media. Now, he’s been the victim again of false claims circulating the internet. What happened this time around?

General Hospital’s Steve Burton Warns Fans Against Fake News

General Hospital fans are being warned against more fake news that is circulating around the internet regarding Steve Burton. The actor is speaking out and warning fans to only believe information from verified sources. On social media, Burton asked that fans report pages they believe are sharing fake news.

The latest posts about Burton involve social media accounts that are reporting he is facing a deadly diagnosis. The posts in question claim that Burton’s wife, Michelle Lundstrom, confirmed he has cancer. These fake reports go on to say that Burton has left the soap for treatment.

Steve shared the posts to his own verified social media, revealing that it is all fake news and these sites should be reported. He later shared another post asking fans to be vigilant and beware of scammers. The post said, “Quick Note: If you’re seeing information about me online, please make sure it’s coming from VERIFIED or OFFICIAL sources. There’s a lot of misinformation out there from scammers who want your $$$ and I just want to make sure you’re getting the info from verified pages. Do not share info from non verified pages..Appreciate the support.”

Needless to say, the information circulating is false and just rumors. General Hospital favorite Steve Burton is fine and DOES NOT have cancer. This isn’t the first time he has been the victim of fake news. It was revealed fairly recently that someone was scammed out of thousands of dollars because they believed they were being approached by Burton online, asking for money.

With the popularity of AI, scams and fake news are becoming more and more common. It’s imperative that fans be careful about who they are subjecting themselves to online.
