‘General Hospital’ Shocker: Ryan Paevey Confirms Return, When?

General Hospital fans are finally getting a character return they have talked about for years. Ryan Paevey confirmed he is returning to the soap. Nathan West was killed off the show several years ago. Fans always wanted him to make a comeback, but until now, it was just rumors and wishful thinking.  He did hint at a return to acting in the past few weeks when he said he had some irons in the fire. General Hospital Fans Shocked Over Ryan Paevey Announcement

General Hospital fans were already excited over the return of Britt Westbourne, played by Kelly Thiebaud. Rumors started that maybe Ryan Paevey would make a comeback as well. Now, it’s actually happening. He confirmed to Deadline on Monday that he is, in fact, returning to the daytime drama.

Paevey starts filming this week, and his first air date will be in September. It’s unclear how long he will be on the show. It’s also unknown if he will for sure be playing Detective Nathan West, whom he portrayed from 2013 until 2018. However, since Britt isn’t really dead, it’s possible that somehow Nathan survived as well.

Paevey revealed that the return began with a surprise text from Executive Producer Frank Valentini. Ryan said,

“We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought if we’re going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline. I was surprised by my excitement for a homecoming and reuniting with familiar faces after seven years. I still have my last call sheet from my final taping day on January 18, 2018, tacked up in my home office.”

Now it’s official, and he begins filming this week.

It Has To Tie In With Maxie Jones

In previews for this week, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) is seen collapsing. It’s unclear what is going on with her, but Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is not happy she’s the only one who voted not to keep quiet about Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) illegal contributions to Deception. Storms is leaving the show for the remainder of the year and said fans will freak out over her storyline. She could have been hinting about Paevey’s return.

Now, with Paevey making a comeback, will he somehow save her life? Will he be back as Nathan, who is somehow alive, or will he be a ghost or a dream? He did say it’s a meaty storyline, so it’s possible that, being Britt’s brother, he is somehow back from the grave.

Head writers did say that the Obrecht/Faison storyline is just getting started.
