‘Bringing Up Bates’ Kelly Jo Bates Recalls Time Isaiah Fought For His Life

Bringing Up Bates star Kelly Jo Bates returns online with a huge post for her son, Isaiah, who’s celebrating his 21st birthday. Just like many birthday posts from Kelly, she gushed over her son’s positive traits. However, many were surprised when Kelly Jo opened up about the time when Isaiah almost lost his life. Bringing Up Bates: Kelly Jo Recalls Time Isaiah Nearly Lost His Life

Some Bringing Up Bates fans on Reddit discussed Kelly Jo’s statements on her birthday message for Isaiah on Instagram. Kelly Jo mentioned that Isaiah had an accident when he was 3 years old. She wrote, “After your accident at 3 yrs old, we spent 2 days in the hospital waiting by your side while you were unconscious, & when you finally woke up your 1st words were still, ‘Mom you’re so pretty!'” Kelly Jo didn’t exactly share what happened, and this led to some people digging for answers online.

It was later discovered that Isaiah fell from a hotel balcony. In a 2010 post, Kelly Jo stated, “God spared (Isaiah’s) life 3 years ago, when railing gave way on the 3rd story deck of a beach condo, sending him tumbling 2 stories below.” It seems the terrifying accident was kept from the public for a long time, though Kelly Jo briefly mentioned it during an old episode.

• “KJ talked about it briefly on an episode when they were staying in a cabin. Isaiah had fell through the rails and was in the hospital.”
• “I think they mention him falling from a balcony on the show, I don’t think they ever said what age he was.”
• “Honestly thats a miracle in itself he survived that esp with no lasting effects (that we know of).”
• “Yes, they mentioned it several times on the show. Apparently, the railings in question had rusted through and collapsed as he leaned on them. Isaiah seemed oddly proud of it.”

Kelly’s Heartwarming Message For Isaiah

Kelly Jo opens up about how sweet Isaiah is in her birthday post for him. According to the Bringing Up Bates star, she knew that there was something special about Isaiah since he was just a toddler. She revealed that Isaiah would do the sweetest thing in the morning, which is calling her pretty when she wakes up.

Kelly Jo went on to say that she never remembers Isaiah being rude to anyone or even complaining. Kelly Jo added, “You still won’t talk bad about people, complain about anything, or get upset easily! You’ve always been a sweetheart! Your calm demeanor & overall trust in God is so inspiring.” Kelly Jo then revealed that Isaiah is now a senior in Bible College and will soon graduate.
