‘General Hospital’ Rumors Fly, Is Aunt Stella Leaving Soap?

Rumors are flying that Vernee Watson, who portrays Aunt Stella Henry, is leaving General Hospital. The big question now is whether or not the speculation is true. The rumors have been going on for months, but ramped up even more when Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was shot by a mysterious person. Plus, Aunt Stella is being investigated for insurance fraud, also thanks to Drew. Is Watson really leaving the show?

Is General Hospital Saying Goodbye To Aunt Stella?

General Hospital fans are speculating based on rumors that Vernee Watson is leaving the show. The rumors say she is leaving due to health concerns. If she is leaving, the soap has a few different ways to write her out without actually killing off her character. She was arrested for insurance fraud, and if Drew Cain has his way, she will go to trial for it and be sent to prison.

Should Aunt Stella be convicted of insurance fraud, it’s the perfect exit for her as Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) fight for her release. Sending poor Aunt Stella off to prison would intensify the anger toward Drew. Which leads to the next possible reason Aunt Stella could be sent away and create an exit.

Did Aunt Stella Shoot Drew?

General Hospital fans think that it’s too obvious to have a main character be the one who tried to eliminate Drew. So, some are speculating that Aunt Stella has a dark side nobody knew existed. Rumors are flying that she could be behind the shooting of the congressman. The figure who shot him had short hair, whom many first thought was Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen).

While it would be a good exit to convict and send her off to prison for shooting Drew, it’s highly unlikely that she has that kind of animosity in her. Plus, Aunt Stella told Trina and Kai she was worried that Curtis had shot Drew. She certainly wouldn’t shoot Drew, then blame her nephew.

It’s almost certain that being convicted of attempted murder is not happening for Aunt Stella. But, is she leaving the show? As of right now, neither Vernee Watson nor General Hospital production has confirmed if she is leaving. Currently, it’s all just speculation from fans.

Fans would certainly miss her if she did decide to part ways with the show. She’s played the role of Aunt Stella since 2017.
