‘Y&R’ Eric Braeden Updates Fans On Cancer Diagnosis
Young and the Restless legend Eric Braeden has been on the beloved soaps for many, many years. He’s 83 years old and has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. He shared his cancer diagnosis with fans in April 2023. Now a year later he is giving an update about how he is and where his cancer stands now. What did he have to say? Keep reading to find out more.
Y&R Star Eric Braeden Updates Fans
Eric Braeden has been a part of the long-running soap Young and the Restless since 1980. He starred in over 4,000 episodes to date. The soap has since shared that it has been renewed for four more seasons. As for Braeden himself, he has no plans to retire anytime soon. He previously talked about how much he loves his job and the people around him.
As for his cancer diagnosis, after enduring several treatments, he announced to fans in August 2023 that he was cancer-free. Is this still true today?
Eric spoke with Entertainment Tonight and shared the current status of his health. He said,
My cancer diagnosis right now is on hold, as it were, and [I’m] very grateful for very good doctors and very good modern cancer treatment which has improved enormously. People shouldn’t be afraid of it, you know. Just go and have your cystoscopy, have your colonoscopy, have you heart checked out. Do all that, do it in time.
He Doesn’t React Immediately To Things
Eric Braeden went on to share that he doesn’t react immediately to things. He went on to say he reacts afterward. Eric said, “On the way home, I thought, ‘Keep on looking at it step by step.’ That’s good advice for anything you do in life. Don’t anticipate the result, don’t think way ahead. No, take it step by step.”
Even with his cancer diagnosis, Eric never missed a beat. He didn’t slow down. He still worked and also maintained his physical fitness as best as he could. Now, he’s back to working out and doing his best to stay healthy.
Fans will be able to see Eric and the rest of the cast of the Young and the Restless through 2028. He shared his thankfulness to fans for all their support and love for the show and for him as well.
It was simply meant to be that Eric took on the role of Victor Newman. He said he only originally planned to stay for three months. Now, 44 years later he’s still here.
What do you think about Eric continuing to act well into his 80’s? Are you glad to hear he beat cancer and is still living life to the fullest?
