O.J. Simpson Died At Age 76

O.J. Simpson’s family shared the official news on X Thursday morning. He passed away in Las Vegas. The announcement said, “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. -The Simpson Family”

Simpson was one of the most notable men in America and sadly gained additional stardom when his ex-wife and her friend turned up murdered at her home in California. Their deaths changed his life. On June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman were stabbed to death outside of her home in Brentwood.

When it was announced he was the prime suspect and would be arrested, Simpson attempted to flee. Five days after the murders this led to the infamous white Bronco low-speed chase down the Interstate in Los Angeles. The Bronco driven by Simpson’s friend Al Cowlings cruised down the highway for nearly two hours as America watched live on television. Eventually, he surrendered.

O.J. stood trial for the double murder charge. He was acquitted of all charges much to everyone’s surprise. Many believe many years later he actually confessed to the killings in his book.

He later faced more charges in 2007 when he led some men into a Las Vegas hotel and casino to steal, at gunpoint, what he claims was his own sports memorabilia. Simpson stood trial for a number of felony counts, including kidnapping and armed robbery. He was found guilty this time and was sentenced to up to 33 years in prison. Simpson was released in 2017.

He Is Survived By Four Children

ABC News shared that Orenthal James Simpson, nicknamed “The Juice,” broke records as a college and professional football player. He was also a sportscaster, a movie and television actor, and acted as a corporate spokesman, most notably for Hertz rental cars. O.J. Simpson is survived by four children: Arnelle and Jason, from his first marriage, and Sydney and Justin, from his marriage to Nicole Brown Simpson.

He had been battling prostate cancer. O.J. took a turn for the worse and was placed on hospice care within the past few months.

Aside from his criminal past, O.J. was a true football legend. He won the Heisman while attending USC. He then went on to become a Buffalo Bills legend.

O.J. still had a ton of fans and remained active on social media. RIP.
