7 Little Johnstons star Liz Johnston welcomed her first baby in early November. She and Brice Bolden are enjoying being parents to little Leighton Drew. However, sometimes along with giving birth comes postpartum issues. At times being a new mom can be overwhelming and support is incredibly important. In Liz’s latest Instagram post, she shares how she’s feeling. Keep reading to find out more.

Liz Johnston shares postpartum feelings

As Liz Johnston celebrates another birthday, she’s also feeling the effects of being a new mom. She went to Instagram to share a quote that has everyone wondering if she’s suffering from postpartum depression. The quote reads, “A mother will always remember who showed up for her, when she was lost in the trenches of postpartum. The baby won’t remember who held them. But the mother will always remember who held her.”

It appears Liz is having a rough time at the moment. Although she may be experiencing the baby blues, she’s also thriving as a mom. Brice Bolden went to Instagram to praise Liz on how good of a mom she is and also wish her a happy birthday.

Amber and Trent Johnson also shared a post on Instagram wishing their daughter a happy 22nd birthday. They shared a photo of Liz holding Leighton and then another photo of Liz as a baby herself. They captioned the post, “🎈Happy 22nd Birthday to our one who made us Lolli & Boppa 🎈”

Liz and Leighton are both lucky to have a family that adores them so much.

Emma Johnston also went to Instagram to wish her big sister a happy birthday. She noted how much they have changed and also mentioned what a good mother and big sister she is.

Luckily, while postpartum can be difficult as the new mom is sleep-deprived and dealing with unsettled hormones, Liz has a wonderful support system. The 7 Little Johnstons really are a team and are there for one another. No doubt everyone is helping Liz with Leighton and holding her when she weeps and needs comfort.

What is postpartum depression?

The Mayo Clinic defines postpartum depression as a condition after birth that “commonly includes mood swings, crying spells, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Baby blues usually begin within the first 2 to 3 days after delivery and may last for up to two weeks. But some new moms experience a more severe, long-lasting form of depression known as postpartum depression.”

The site goes on to say that postpartum depression is not a character flaw or weakness but rather can be a complication that occurs after childbirth.

Leighton turned a month old this past week. Hopefully, Liz will begin feeling more like herself in the coming weeks. But, while she’s struggling her family is there to lend a helping hand and she seems eternally grateful.
