There was also coronary artery atherosclerosis which is a condition where plaque can build up in the arteries, listed as a contributing factor to his death.
Basically, this means that Tyler suffocated to death due to the position he was in while he was intoxicated with alcohol. His death has been ruled accidental. He passed away in his San Diego apartment.

He went on to say, “Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him. Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.”
Maurice concluded by asking for prayers and condolences for his children and Tyler’s father.
It has been noted that Tyler did struggle with alcoholism and was arrested multiple times for public intoxication.
Steve Burton also remembered his friend
Steve Burton who plays Jason Morgan on General Hospital also spoke out when Tyler Christopher’s death was announced. He said, “This hits hard. Really hard. Sometimes I use the word ‘brother’ loosely. But when I called Tyler my brother, I meant it . . . there’s a group of us . . . that have done and still would do anything for each other. We lost one. A beautiful and talented soul at that. It hurts. Thank you for the memories brother Ty. Love you. See you in Heaven. 🙏🏻🕊️.”
Steve is set to make his comeback to the beloved soap opera after being fired for not getting the mandated COVID-19 vaccines. Since the mandate was lifted, he is returning to his role as Jason Morgan.
