General Hospital star Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne) is speaking out about Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) sudden exit from the soap. She spoke with Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) on his podcast, State of Mind. Kelly spoke on Steve leaving, but also on her own mental health issues she has dealt with in the past. Everyone was shocked by Burton’s surprise hiatus, including Kelly. Benard talked to her about it all and got her reaction. Overall, it appears Thiebaud was blindsided by the sudden move. General Hospital Star Kelly Thiebaud Shocked, Sad By Steve Burton’s Exit

General Hospital star Kelly Thiebaud opened up to Maurice Benard about life after leaving the soap in 2023, and now about Steve Burton’s sudden departure from the show. Burton assures fans he will be back filming again this summer. However, for now, he needs a break. He is choosing to focus on his new bride and his family for a bit. Fans were stunned by the news, and so was his co-star Thiebaud. 

The two were just getting back on track in Port Charles and heading toward that love story fans so desperately wanted to see. Now, that will be put on the back burner as Burton goes on hiatus in the coming weeks. It’s not been revealed how he will exit this time, but many hope it’s not another presumed dead storyline. Some think his exit will involve Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). 

Either way, Burton is gone for a few months, and this left Kelly upset and sad. She says she was shocked by the news and confronted him about it. Since she has left the show herself a few times for personal reasons, she said, “I know what that feels like. But the other side of that is I feel let down, you know? So I thought we had time together, and it’s just been really hard. It’s been really hard. He he has more important things in his life. I completely understand that. But it’s … I’m sad. I’m sad that he’s going.”

She’s Been There Before

General Hospital’s Kelly Thiebaud has been in Steve Burton’s shoes. She chose to leave her life in Port Charles behind to follow her then-boyfriend to London. The two didn’t work out, and she admits she kind of had a midlife crisis. Thiebaud says people always told her that her 40s would be great. However, that’s not how it happened for her. She said, “When I was turning 40, I went through a bit of a midlife crisis. I was single, I obviously felt the pressure of the baby clock ticking, and I kind of panicked. I ended up making some decisions that really set me back and hurt me.”

Now, she’s getting her life back on track and is feeling more like herself. She did fall in love with London, so she tries to go back when she can to visit. 

What’s In Store For Jason And Britt?

Now that Jason Morgan is leaving Port Charles or perhaps even kidnapped from Port Charles, this will leave Britt Westbourne without her leading man. She seems to have somewhat mellowed out since her days as the “Britch.” However, with her soon-to-be broken heart, will she return to her old, dirty ways?

Better yet, what will happen in her love life? Will Britt find someone and begin to feel happiness just as Jason makes his big return this summer? There are a lot of unanswered questions and speculation as to where this storyline is heading. Will these two ever find their way back to each other, or will something always tear them apart?
