‘General Hospital’ Will Sonny Corinthos Die Or Fake Death?

General Hospital fans have known for some time now that a medical crisis is looming for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Slowly, people in his life are finding out about his heart condition. Unfortunately, Natalia stabbed him in the back and let Sidwell know what was happening. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) knows now, too, and is going to stand by him through the procedure in California. However, new previews for the week reveal that something may go terribly wrong. Will Sonny actually die and leave fans heartbroken and Port Charles without their mob boss? Or, will he fake his own death to heal and get the upper hand?

Will General Hospital Fans See Sonny Die?

This week on General Hospital, viewers will see Sonny and Carly travel to California for his heart surgery. A big concern has been making sure his enemies do not know he’s vulnerable because of his health. Sadly, Natalia’s big mouth spilled everything to Sidwell.

In previews for this week, Sonny is lying in his hospital bed, seemingly sleeping, when a nurse, or rather Colette posing as a nurse, walks in with a syringe. Of course, chances are it’s not a real nurse but rather someone coming to try and eliminate him for good.

Sidwell still claims he isn’t after Sonny, but an assassin showing up might say otherwise. However, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is no doubt one step ahead. Plus, as the so-called nurse (Colette) comes up with a syringe by Sonny’s bedside, his eyes fly open. Perhaps he, too, was prepared for an ambush.

It would be great if Jason were there to also spoil the plan and find out who sent this killer. Is it really Sidwell? Perhaps since everyone thinks it is Sidwell behind it all, it’s not.

Many still think this could be it for Sonny. Recent social media posts by Maurice Benard have fans believing he was saying goodbye. It will be a sad day in Port Charles if someone is actually able to defeat Sonny. Will the “nurse” be able to inject some of the deadly drug into Sonny?

He could retire, but chances are he’s not quite ready for that. If he lives, what happens next?

Could He Fake His Own Death?

If General Hospital fan favorite Sonny Corinthos survives the murder attempt, could it be planned that he fakes his own death? Perhaps, Jason and Sonny have devised a plan to keep him safe while he recovers from his surgery. What better way to do that peacefully than to have everyone think he is dead?

Sonny could go into hiding and return in a few months when he’s healed from his heart surgery. This would also give Jason time to find the person responsible for the latest attempted hits on Sonny and take them out.
