‘General Hospital’ Steve Burton Breaks Silence On Kelly Monaco’s Firing

General Hospital fans are still reeling from the shocking news that Kelly Monaco is being fired from the hit daytime soap. There have been a lot of cast changes in 2024 including bringing back two fan favorites, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Jonathan Jackson (Lucky Spencer). While these two faves have returned, there have also been several to leave. Now, fans are not happy with the latest rumored exit being Kelly who portrays Burton’s love interest Sam. Steve Burton Speaks Out On Kelly Monaco Leaving GH

Fan favorite Steve Burton speaks out on what he knows regarding General Hospital firing Kelly Monaco from the soap. She has been a part of the daytime drama since 2003. Previously she worked a ton with Steve as they were love interests on the show. However, since his return earlier this year, the two have not interacted much onscreen.

Fans really wanted to see them back together but with Kelly now leaving the show that most likely will never happen.

Now, on the Daily Drama podcast, Steve and his co-host and co-star Bradford Anderson talked about Kelly being cut from the show. Unfortunately, the duo did not have much to say about Kelly leaving the soap.

They revealed that they were on a filming break so they heard the news when everyone else did. Along with everyone they have questions and sadly do not know the answers yet. Steve said, “I wish we had information to tell you.” He then added that “Whatever happens sucks.”

Steve did note that they should have more information in a few days when they return to the set of General Hospital. 

Fans Are Angered By News

So far nobody knows how Kelly Monaco’s character Sam McCall will exit the show. However, it has been rumored to somehow involve Lucky Spencer and be tragic. Fans cannot fathom the show killing off Sam and leaving her children without a mother.

Plus, if she leaves there is no hope for her and Jason to ever rekindle their romance.

Many believe Sam is one of the most loved characters on General Hospital. They believe writers are making a huge mistake if they truly kill her off.

There is no official word on when she will make her official exit but it has been rumored to be this fall.
