‘General Hospital’ Recasts Scout Cain, Who Is New Actress?

General Hospital is getting a new Scout Cain. She is the daughter of Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and the late Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). Cosette Abinante, who has played Scout since 2022, is no longer needed on the soap. Why are they replacing her and with whom? When will the new actress make her soap opera debut?

General Hospital Replacing Scout

Soap Opera Digest shared exclusively that Cosette Abinante is being replaced by Kayden Brenna Tokarski. The publication also revealed that the decision to recast the recurrent part of Scout happened to make the character more mature. She was born on screen in February 2017. Tokarski takes up the role at a sensitive period in Scout’s life, as her dad remains in a locked-in state after what everyone believes was a stroke. However, fans know it was really the result of him being drugged by Scout’s evil stepmother, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen).

On June 1, fans spotted Tokarski among other cast members in a video shared on General Hospital’s official social media accounts celebrating the taping of the show’s 16,000th episode. They revealed who they believed she would be portraying, and they were right. 

Tokarski will be making her Port Charles debut in July. The 16-year-old has been acting since she was only ten. However, this is her first time acting on a soap.

Her Acting Past

She’s had an impressive acting history thus far. Tokarski portrayed a younger version of Julia Roberts’s character, Martha, in the 2022 Starz political thriller Gaslit. In the 2024 Lifetime series My Professor’s Deadly Secret, she portrayed Lauren, the daughter of James Hyde’s (formerly Sam Bennett, Passions; former Jeremy Stark, The Young and the Restless) character, John. She also costarred with Anthony Michael Hall in the science fiction film Roswell Delirium and Killer in the Woods for Lifetime. In addition to the upcoming Curse of Vandor (and its sequel), which stars Dee Wallace (ex-Pat Spencer, GH), she recently completed filming the neo-noir thriller Quads & the Kicker.

The young actress has also been featured in some commercials that many might recognize her from. They include voicing Wednesday Addams in a national Wendy’s commercial tied to the hit Netflix series and also starring opposite Joey Fatone in a national spot for Red Lobster.
