‘General Hospital’ Cameron Mathison Reveals Cruelest Drew Moment

General Hospital star Cameron Mathison recently spoke with Good Morning America, where he spoke of his hated character, Drew Cain. Outside of the show, many describe Mathison as the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. However, Drew is despised so much that Cameron has had apples thrown at him in stores. Drew has done a lot of bad things on the soap. Now, he’s revealing what he believes has been the absolute worst, cruelest moment for Drew. 

General Hospital Cameron Mathison Discusses Dark Drew Cain

General Hospital star Cameron Mathison has been playing Drew Cain for nearly five years now. He wasn’t always bad news. In fact, he used to be a respected Navy SEAL. All of that went down the toilet when he turned to the dark side. Mathison knows that Drew is hated by everyone, and it’s the first time he’s portrayed someone so dark and evil in his entire thirty years of acting. 

From sleeping with his nephew’s wife and her mother to blackmailing Portia, Drew has done some terrible things. He was asked on Good Morning America what his darkest moment as Drew was. After briefly thinking of it, he said the cruelest was having to say that Michael didn’t love Wiley anymore. He did it to manipulate the situation to get what he wanted and could have cared less who was hurt in the process. 

Mathison said, “He manipulated an 11-year-old kid into thinking that his father didn’t love him anymore just to get something that he wanted — like, he had a selfish motivation. When I read that, I went to the producer. I was like, ‘Can we tweak this a little bit? This is too much.’ As a dad, like, it was horrible. The kid’s devastated and [as Drew] I’m like, ‘Get over it!’ It was pretty low, pretty dark.”

Advice For Drew

Cameron Mathison was also asked what advice he would give his villainous character, Drew Cain. He said he would tell him not to take himself so seriously. He would also tell him to stop being so selfish. Mathison also mentioned that Drew should stay far away from Willow. His new bride shot him twice and is now keeping him paralyzed with a mysterious drug.
