‘General Hospital’ Cameron Mathison Hints At Drew’s Fate

General Hospital fans saw Drew Cain take two bullets on Tuesday’s show. Now, the big question is whether or not he’s breathing. Some think he’s dead, while others believe he will survive the vicious attack. Actor Cameron Mathison weighed in on his character in a recent interview. He may have given fans a few hints as to what Drew’s fate will be. What did Mathison say?

General Hospital Actor Cameron Mathison Weighs In On Drew

Soap Opera Digest caught up with Cameron Mathison to get his thoughts on Drew Cain. He knows that he plays a character who is a very hated man. Mathison said, “Obviously, everybody hates me like crazy, but at the same time, they had to do that for the last four or five months. They can’t just have people not like me. They have to have people want to kill me! And in order to have multiple people want to kill you, you’ve got to be pretty despicable — and they’ve done a really good job with that with Drew!”

Cameron has learned to embrace everything the writers throw at him. At first, it was taking him way out of his comfort zone. Now he says it’s almost therapeutic for him. He is a good man in real life, so to be able to go to work and be a jerk has become a release for him. Mathison even admits it’s weirdly easy for him to play such a despicable man.

He said, “Every time I read a script, I’m like, ‘Oh, my god, Drew, are you kidding me?!’ And then I’m like, ‘Yup! Let’s go. Let’s just dive in!’ I like to just really let it fester and have it come out and it’s been interesting and it’s been challenging. It’s been very exploratory for me … and also weirdly easy. The more I gave into it and really trusted the process and the writers — I don’t change anything, and I don’t ask to change anything, I just kind of go in and do it — it’s just become easier and easier. That’s maybe a little bit scary, but also really fun!”

Is He Leaving GH?

Fans have been asking Cameron on social media if he is leaving General Hospital. He has replied back to a few and said no. Some think he could be lying. However, in one part of his interview with Soap Opera Digest, he brought up how the Who Shot Drew storyline is a lot like the Who Shot JR storyline from Dallas. If the story follows along the lines of what happened to JR, Drew will live to see another day.

He also said he’s excited about being the center of this big mystery. He went on to further say that if he’s the punching bag, so be it. Mathison said, “I’m like, ‘Bring it on! Let me be the punching bag! I got this — and I’m gonna punch right back!’”

Does this mean Drew will be out for revenge against whoever just attacked him? It sounds like it. It was important to him to make these scenes look incredible for a moment that viewers have been patiently waiting for. He knows that everyone wants Drew shot and dead. There are lots of twists and turns coming as the Port Charles Police Department starts to sort through clues about who could have shot Drew Cain.
