When it came down to her final rose, she gave it to firefighter Ryan Sutter over Charlie Maher. PEOPLE magazine interviewed Ryan and Trista Sutter for a cover story ahead of the new Bachelorette season.

The couple married in a TV wedding 23 years ago. They moved to Colorado, where they built a life together and raised their two children, Max, 18, and Blakesley. Trista Sutter explained why she chose Ryan. 

“He wrote me poetry. He was a professional athlete, and I love athleticism. His eyes. He made me laugh. He made me feel safe,” she said. Video clips of the interview were posted online, sparking speculation about Ryan Sutter.

Ryan Sutter has suffered serious health issues in the last few years. He was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2021 after many tests and treatments were explored. He was always reserved on the ABC dating show, but fans thought he was acting strangely during the PEOPLE interviews.

Trista Sutter Responds To Worried Fans

Trista and Ryan Sutter are one of the most successful couples to come out of Bachelor Nation. They sparked breakup rumors last year when she left to film Special Forces. However, the Bachelorette star assured fans that everything is okay with their marriage and her husband. 

She reposted some of the comments from concerned fans on the video clips. She slammed “trolls” for their rude comments. Trista Sutter explained that she was speaking more than her husband because the question was addressed to her.

Ryan Sutter did answer some of the questions during the interview. He joked that a famous celebrity might come and steal his wife at any time. “Brad Pitt could write her a letter tomorrow saying, ‘I’ve always liked you,’ and she could be like, ‘Peace out,’” he quipped.
