‘General Hospital’ Sofia Mattsson Hints At Sasha’s Return?

General Hospital fans were shocked to see that Sofia Mattsson was actually leaving Port Charles for good. Sasha Gilmore was escorted by Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) overseas to be with her father amid fear that Daisy was being targeted. However, many thought she would return. So, when news broke that she was permanently leaving the role after seven years, it sent a shockwave through viewers. Now, in new interviews, Sofia hints at a possible return to daytime television. Will Sasha be back?

General Hospital Said Goodbye To Sasha, But Is It For Good?

General Hospital fans said goodbye to Sasha last week, but is it really forever? In a recent interview, she spoke with TV Insider and said that she loved getting to play Sasha. She looked at everyday as a challenge, and it all helped her grow as an actress.

As for the future of her character and her future plans, executive producer Frank Valentini said that she is leaving to pursue other opportunities, but that the door is open for her to return. He said, “There was a good time in the storyline for Sofia to leave to pursue other opportunities in film and TV. But she is open for a return in the future.”

What does Sofia think? She said, depending on the role, she could return to daytime television. Sofia said, “I’d have to see what the role was, but I’m definitely not opposed to coming back to the soap world. I think being on a soap is one of the best jobs you can have as an actress.”

Right now, there is no word if she herself will return to General Hospital down the road. Many fans have speculated that she could return during November sweeps. Sofia said she is rooting for Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) and Sasha to reunite one day. It’s just yet to be seen if it will be Sofia or a recast taking over.

Most likely, fans have not seen the last of Sasha Gilmore.

Other Soap Options

According to other reports, Sofia Mattsson could head to Days Of Our Lives. There are several roles she could handle well and bring a fresh spin to. Soap Opera Spy shared that fans have been talking about Mattsson on social media and speculating which roles she could take over.

Some of those roles are as Abigail DiMera or Joy Wesley. Fans believe it would be shocking to see her return with a new face after leaving very pregnant and keeping her baby a secret from bio dad, Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson).

Other fans suggested Sofia join DOOL as Sloan Peterson or Claire Brady. There are lots of options out there if Sofia wants to resume her daytime acting job.
