‘General Hospital’ Shocking Recast, Kirsten Storms Out

General Hospital fans were shocked on Thursday to turn on their favorite soap and find that Maxie Jones was not being played by Kirsten Storms. The role of Maxie has been played by Storms for twenty years. What happened and who took her spot?

General Hospital Shocker: Kirsten Storms Not Maxie Jones Today

General Hospital fans were not expecting to see someone else step into Kirsten Storms’ shoes to play Maxie Jones on Thursday. Instead of seeing her familiar face, Maxie was played by Nicole Paggi.

Paggi has actually stepped into Maxie’s shoes before as well. She portrayed Jones in late 2023. Paggi has also had her fair share of other acting opportunities. Some of those roles include 9-1-1, The Rookie: Feds, and 90210. 

This isn’t the first time someone else has portrayed Maxie Jones. Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa Donovan, Days of our Lives) stepped in for her from 2011-12, and Molly Burnett (ex-Melanie Jonas, Days) did the same in 2016 and 2018. Robyn Richards originally played Maxie before Kirsten Storms took over in 2005.

Storms just celebrated her twentieth year on May 23. TV Insider shared Kirsten’s thoughts as she celebrated two decades with the soap. She said,

“I think I knew I was going to just do it very differently than the actress before, and she was much younger, so I knew that the way the producers and writers were planning on taking the character was going to be different than what Maxie had been. I thought fans would be a little bit upset about it initially, sure, but I thought if I do my best, I can win that group over. I try not to think very negatively with situations like that.”

Is Kirsten Returning?

General Hospital fans were stunned to see someone else playing Maxie. Is Kirsten Storms gone for good? According to show runners, the replacement is only temporary. According to the report, Storms had a scheduling conflict arise, and so Paggi stepped in until she is able to return. There were no immediate details about what conflict she had. However, she did mention a trip on social media roughly nine weeks ago.

It will be a short time before Storms returns. Due to the filming schedule, Paggi is set to appear on television screens again on July 30 and August 13. Storms will make her comeback during the week of August 18. In the meantime, Paggi is having a great time stepping into Maxie’s shoes.
