1000-Lb Sisters Star Dr. Eric Smith Speaks Out
A rumor began circulating over the weekend that 1000-Lb Sisters bariatric surgeon Dr. Eric Smith had died of a massive stroke. The news spread so much that Dr. Smith himself felt the need to speak out and clear the air.
Dr. Smith is very much alive and well and has a message for fans. He went to Instagram on Wednesday to share his thoughts on the horrible rumor. He wrote across the top of the video message that he apparently died over the weekend. Dr. Smith then addressed the rumors.
The caption on his post began by saying, “There seems to be a false rumor circulating, so I want to address it directly. I’m alive, doing well, and have not had a stroke. Thank you to everyone who reached out with concern. It means more than you know.”
He had more to share with fans, too, about the dangers of social media.

His Message For Fans
Dr. Eric Smith then went on to share an important message with fans about the improper use of social media and the dangers it can pose. Misinformation can spread very quickly on social media, so he encouraged fans not to take everything literally and to be sure the information is factual.
He said, “Just like ultra processed foods are engineered to make you crave more, these platforms are designed to keep you scrolling, clicking, and reacting. It does not matter if the information is good or bad.”
Dr. Smith said that rumors like this are able to spread so quickly because of the attention so many give it. He concluded his thoughts by saying, “Take everything at face value, question what you see online, and always do your own research before believing or sharing anything. Your attention is powerful. Use it wisely.”

Dr. Smith is well known for completing bariatric surgeries for Tammy Slaton and others. He quickly became a fan favorite on 1000-Lb Sisters, and fans love keeping up with him on social media.
